Optimal Pitch Angle Controller for DFIG-Based Wind Turbine System Using Computational Optimization Techniques

With the advent of high-speed and parallel computing, applicability computational optimization in engineering problems has increased, with greater validation than conventional methods. Pitch angle is an effective variable extracting maximum wind power a turbine system (WTS). The pitch controller contributes to improve output at different speeds. In this paper, proportional (P) proportional-integral (PI) controllers used. parameters are tuned by techniques for doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based WTS. study carried out on 9 MW DFIG based WTS model MATLAB/SIMULINK. Two techniques: particle swarm (PSO), intelligence algorithm, genetic algorithm (GA), evolutionary applied. A multi-objective, multi-dimensional error function defined minimized selecting appropriate criterion each objective which depicts relative magnitude function. results flow dynamic response optimized P PI compared three cases. It revealed that PSO-based performed better comparison both GA-based controllers.
